Databases

ECORD has developed several databases to ensure that necessary information to develop drilling proposals is available to scientists, to handle the data collected during drilling expeditions and to maintain a record of European activities in ocean drilling. These databases have been supported by the ECORD-Net contract.

• The ECORD Information database keeps the record of the ECORD participation in IODP: participants in IODP expeditions and workshops, proponents, delegates and representatives in panels and committees,etc.

• As one of the IODP Implementing Organisations, the ECORD Science Operator (ESO) is responsible for collecting data during mission-specific platform (MSP) expeditions and making them available to the science community. These data are handled by WDC-MARE/PANGEA and are accessible through the MSP data portal.

• The 'Geological and Geophysical Information Database' provides access to European marine seismic and sediment metadata harvested from existing European databases (EU-SEASED, EUROSEISMIC, OGS, and Norwegian databases). It aims at helping scientists locate existing site survey data in Europe.

IODP databases/information systems

• Google Earth Borehole map: you can view DSDP, ODP and IODP drilled sites as well as IODP proposed drill sites.
• The Scientific Earth Drilling Information System (SEDIS) is designed to facilitate access to data, information and publications related to scientific ocean drilling (IODP, ODP and DSDP), regardless of origin or location of data. SEDIS allows the public to search the databases of the IODP Implementing Organisations (IOs) - CDEX, ESO and USIO - by harvesting distributed metadata.
• The Site Survey Data Bank (SSDB) is a repository for digital site survey data submitted in support of Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) proposals, expeditions and related activities.
