Education resources and activities


The Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) provides a vast amount of scientific information that is of interest to students, teachers (see Education pages of the IODP website). As all IODP educational activities are conducted at a national level to meet local curricula standards, teachers, educators and students from ECORD member countries are encouraged to contact ESSAC via the ESSAC Office and ESSAC delegates to participate.

  • ECORD Grants: for outstanding graduate students to conduct research related to IODP, ODP, DSDP.
  • ECORD Distinguished Lecturer Programme: since 2007, the European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) sponsors an initiative for a lecture series to be given by leading scientists involved with the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP).
  • Teacher at Sea: berths for educators are opened for upcoming expeditions 341, 344, 345 and 346 onboard the JOIDES Resolution.
