Postponement of ArcOP IODP Expedition #377

With regret we inform the IODP community that the ArcOP Expedition has been postponed by two to three years by the ECORD Council due to the uncertainties regarding safety issues with the implementation of the ArcOP expedition as currently planned.

ECORD Council Consensus 22-04-01:

The ECORD Council decides to postpone the IODP 377: Arctic Ocean Paleoceanography (ArcOP) expedition by two to three years due to the uncertainties regarding safety issues with the implementation of the ArcOP expedition as currently planned. The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat (SPRS) and the ECORD Science Operator (ESO) will initiate a dialogue with Arctic Marine Solutions (AMS) with the aim to review the operational plans in order to implement the ArcOP science objectives according to the new time-plan and to address the safety concerns, subjected to approval by the ECORD Council.
