The Australasian IODP Regional Planning Workshop will catalyse new IODP proposals to address globally relevant geoscience questions that can be addressed in the Australasian region, covering all four Themes of the IODP Science Plan. It will identify synergies, improve integration, discuss additional opportunities and establish the robust international alliances that are essential for strong research proposals. Detailed information about the workshop can be obtained from: http://iodp.org.au/for-scientists/australasian-iodp-regional-planning-workshop-june-2017/

The workshop is co-funded through a MagellanPlus grant of ECORD. This open call invites applications from early-career scientists (PhD students and postdocs) of ECORD member countries for travel support to join the workshop. It is expected that 3 to 4 early-career scientists can receive partial funds (max €1500) from the MagellanPlus grant.

Applicants should submit their application as a single PDF document, including a short CV, publication list and brief statement of interest in this workshop, to Karsten Gohl (karsten.gohl@awi.de) and Jessica Whiteside (J.Whiteside@soton.ac.uk) by April 10, 2017. Preference will be given to applicants from countries other than Germany, UK and France. Decisions on applicants will be made by the four proponents of the MagellanPlus proposal, based on a balance of expertise or interest in the different oceans and covering IODP’s four different themes (https://www.iodp.org/about-iodp/iodp-science-plan-2013-2023).
